Derived from the concept name, Pak Pao, which translates to ‘Kite’, we wanted to create a design space that felt energetic, youthful and maintained the cultural authenticity of the food served. We looked to bright colors and heavy textures as well as art installations that felt true to the spirit of the restaurant.
Greeted by a Thai relief sculpture upon entering the space, the main space, although small in square footage is perfectly balanced with rough concrete large format tiles, ornate patterned wallpaper and wood paneled bar faces. The main bar hard ceiling transitions to an open structure ceiling above the main dining area and filled with a traditional Thai Chula Kite installation imported directly from Thailand for a playful accent. A textured tree root suspended from a ceiling doubles as both a light fixture and a sculptural element. Jam packed with playful accents, vibrant colors and ornate materials, the Pak Pao space becomes one full of energy, youth and a fun dining environment.
