For this Uptown nightlife space, we wanted to take the preserve the gabled roof structure and fill it with an unexpected upscale deco interior. We looked to examples of high end, upscale finishes, installations and examples of mural style wall applications. Our vision for this space was streamlined decadence lined with artistic and unexpected art and fixture accents.
Exposed brick walls wrap across the Bar area immediately upon entering Citizen. On the opposite side, wood paneled stained wood walls wrap across the lounge area all washed intimate colored lighting in red and purple tones. A large monochrome hex tile pattern wraps the bar facade finished with a deep maroon quartz profile edge countertop. Polished hardwood floors reflect the vibrant light from it’s walls and deep red velvet tufted loung e seating fills the space in combination with matching modern profiled bar seats. Down the main corridor, black tufted lounge seating lines one wall with detailed liquor display lining the other. Walls are wrapped in a custom in-house designed wallpaper. Similar vibrant lights wash up the walls, creating an atmospheric blend of urban sophistication.
Branding
For the Citizen brand, we wanted to reference the urban sophistication that the space and experienced aimed to be. We started with the idea of a playful animal profile, eventually settling on a Boston Terrier. We added a monocle and a derby hat, a playful touch of ‘sophistication’, and finally lined the bottom of the brand with a secondary club name logo with a bookend decorative icons. We wanted the brand to represent it’s space, a hip, upscale environment that doesn’t take itself too seriously.
