For this Hotel Lumen restaurant redesign, we wanted to convert the space into one that was more approachable and welcoming. Our initial approach was to stray from the heavy existing stainless steel materiality and introduce warm materials, contrasting textures and soft fixtures while retaining the finishes that already worked in the space.
The main bar, retaining the original waterfall edge granite countertop, was refaced in a custom wood slat bar front in various textures and stains. The light colored granite, continuing on the kitchen expo back wall gives one end of the space a clear contrast with the dark stained wood banquette seating on the end. Complete with a wood clad ceiling and modern industrial surface mount ceiling sconces the storefront lined seating becomes a casual, fun and light filled dining space. Warm wood table tops and industrial steel and wood dining seating is mixed with upholstered, soft textiles. The updated Front Room space successfully becomes a more warm space with textural, contrasting finishes and modern furniture and fixtures.
