For this large entertainment venue, we wanted show continuity of materials from exterior to interior. Because of its large footprint, varying scale of materials also had to be taken into account. We wanted to focus careful design of individual spaces that seamlessly transitioned into others with fun, yet comfortable colors and durable materials that made this venue feel cozy despite the large scale.
A welcoming main entrance vestibule with wood paneled millwork taken from exterior facade materiality becomes the main hub of this game and entertainment venue. The main corridor travels diagonally across the building, opening up into the 3 main programmatic areas delineated by changes in floor materials: a main dining and bar area laid out in large format porcelain tile, a larger game area in custom printed carpet, and a bowling lounge area in wood plank floors. The main bar transitions into bar height seating with a large window that opens out onto the exterior patio complete with a communal fireplace. Walls are covered in custom bowling ball and pin art installations and lighting fixtures are cohesively tied together throughout all spaces. Through muted colors and natural materials, we aimed to design an elevated gaming venue that carefully contrasts with its fun and lively program.
Branding
The Pin Stack logo combined the verticality and narrowness of the neutraface typeface and combined it with a simple icon of 10 stacked circles, representative of stacked bowling pins. This simple stacked circular pattern can be used singularly or in a repetitive pattern. Finally a simple ‘bowl’ and ‘bite’ are placed below, in a tighter brandon grotesque typeface that contrasts but remains cohesive with the main logo. We created a simple brand, that aimed to bring the it’s main bowling and food concepts to the forefront both representationally and in its copy.
