For this Dallas restaurant, we wanted to preserve its raw Deep Ellum interiors and combine them with refined patterns, modern finishes and industrial fixtures for an upscale vibe in a shell stripped to it’s bare bones.
With it’s corner condition site, Stirr is a two floor space with a perfect mix of modern and gritty. Shell walls were left to it’s textural, imperfect brick bones, while new walls were clad in a textured grey concrete plaster. Contrasting dual tone tiles, tufted furniture and a custom suspended ceiling light fixture come together modernize the historic space. Playful hand painted text wrap the stair risers to the second floor where the interior finishes are carried to or cohesiveness. A modern interior space, the restaurant becomes a contemporary space that perfectly highlights it’s historical context.
Branding
The Stirr logo aimed to encompass the charm of a vintage lettering with a refined touch. We took a bold san serif text and carefully voided it with detailed geometry. A central ‘I’ is elongated and surrounded in a texture reminiscent of rays of light. Together, the Stirr brand reflects it’s refined interior space with nods to the it’s vintage and historical context.
